MSNBC has made the unacceptable decision to cancel The ReidOut, silencing one of the most powerful and necessary voices in media. Joy-Ann Reid is a truth-teller, a trailblazer, and a journalist who has fearlessly held power to account. Further, Joy Reid is an immensely qualified journalist with unimpeachable credentials. At a time when press freedom is under attack, silencing one of the few Black women in primetime sends the wrong message. Removing her show not only weakens MSNBC’s credibility but also undermines the diverse perspectives essential for a truly democratic media. Joy deserves better and so do we, as the viewing audience.
